Trespasser Arrest Exposes Complex Theft Operation at Indiana Retailer

North Vernon Police Dept. were dispatched to Walmart, Friday, Jan. 16, in reference to a reported trespassed individual on the property.

During the investigation, officers developed probable cause and arrested Brittany Allison, 31, a Seymour resident, without incident. Further investigation led to officers obtaining a search warrant for the woman’s vehicle.

While searching Allison’s vehicle, officers located methamphetamine along with evidence indicating a complex fraud and theft operation. A cell phone was also seized as part of the investigation.

Allison was transported to Jennings County jail where she was booked on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, criminal trespass, theft, and fraud, pending formal review by the Jennings County Prosecutor’s office.

The investigation was led by Narcotics Task Force Officer Connor Emily and Sgt. Grunden.

“The officers involved did an outstanding job of taking what initially appeared to be a simple trespassing call and uncovering a much more complex narcotics, theft, and fraud investigation,” said NVPD Chief Keith Messer. “Their work not only removed dangerous drugs from our community but also disrupted a theft and fraud operation that could have impacted numerous local businesses and residents.”

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
