Axis Communications has announced its participation as a founding partner in the Frontier AI Critical Defense Program, created by Palo Alto Networks.
This collaborative effort aims to enhance the protection of critical infrastructure from exploits driven by advanced AI models. Through this program, Axis and Palo Alto Networks are set to deliver sophisticated network-level defenses to help mitigate risks associated with AI-accelerated security threats.
Addressing AI-Driven Vulnerabilities
The rapid development of Frontier AI models is increasing the pace at which vulnerabilities are identified and exploited, putting organizations under pressure to implement security patches more swiftly. Devices and solutions provided by Axis are often used in sensitive settings, such as government buildings and critical infrastructure. The new initiative is vital in ensuring that distributed edge networks and essential data remain secure from AI-enhanced threats without interrupting crucial operations.
By partnering in the Frontier AI Critical Defense Program, Axis and Palo Alto Networks can effectively coordinate to create “virtual patches” at the network level. These measures offer a crucial layer of security, allowing organizations sufficient time to properly test and implement official software updates while maintaining security.

This collaboration allows Axis to enhance customer protection by leveraging insights from its partnership with Palo Alto Networks. It is an effort to bolster Axis’s own vulnerability management and remediation strategies, thereby strengthening its product ecosystem against potential security threats.
“In a landscape where AI is shortening the window between vulnerability discovery and exploitation, collaboration is essential,” expressed Sebastian Hultqvist, Manager Platform Solutions at Axis Communications. “By joining this initiative as a founding partner, we are providing our customers with a proactive safety net. This coordination not only protects our customers today but also provides us with valuable insights to continuously improve our security posture.”
Proactive Threat Mitigation
Qiang Huang, Vice President Product Management at Palo Alto Networks, noted the acceleration in cyber threats posed by Frontier AI.
By partnering with technology firms like Axis, the program blocks threats at the network layer, allowing critical infrastructure operators to safely apply long-term solutions, thereby supporting robust business outcomes in the era of next-generation connected devices.
