A WALMART customer has shared a recent shopping experience, claiming that three employees were needed to complete their shopping while using self-checkout.

Over the past year, Walmart has been adopting new measures to curb self-checkout theft, changing rules and affecting many customers.

A shopper shared their experience on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, revealing that it took three employees for them to complete his shopping.

“Took three people at Walmart the other day for me to self check out,” wrote a critic.

They explained that their Walmart is now enforcing receipt checks, a measure that hopes to prevent theft in stores.

“One watched me scan all my items and two more demanded to see my receipt,” they continued.

Receipt checks have become some of the most controversial new measures adopted by Walmart, even if they’re only being used in a handful of stores.

The measure has upset some customers and created uncomfortable situations in shops.

One woman shared what she does to avoid the awkward process of having her physical receipt checked in the store.

“Walmart and Costco are the only two retail stores that check receipts and they check receipts whether or not you use self-checkout,” she said.

“I ask for a text receipt at self-checkout and they have never made me pull up my text to show it.

“Receipt checking predates self-checkout.”

Lawyers have been sharing all sorts of tips regarding receipt checks and self-checkout measures.

A lawyer in Georgia revealed that while staff can ask for your receipt, it’s unlawful for them to touch customers.

“Walmart cannot physically detain you by putting their hands on you by handcuffing you by using any kind of physical restraint on your person, on your body,” he said.

Walmart has been reached out for comment.
