Officers were called around 6:35 p.m. Thursday, March 20, to the 12300 block of Georgia Avenue in the Glenmont area for reports of a fight in progress, Montgomery County Police said.
When officers arrived, they saw two teens brawling behind the counter of the McDonald’s, authorities said.
According to investigators, the 15-year-old victim was taking a Ride-On bus when the younger teen approached and demanded personal property. When the victim got off the bus, the suspect allegedly followed him into the fast-food restaurant.
That’s where the situation escalated.
Police say the 14-year-old launched a violent assault, continuing to demand the victim’s belongings in front of employees and customers.
The teen suspect was quickly apprehended and taken to the 4th District Station, where he was charged with attempted robbery and assault.
He was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services and released to guardians, police said.
The case remains under investigation.
