Elijah Cowan, 23 and Aziz James, 24, were among three people stealing from the local CVS on Sunday, Sept. 17, police in Denville said.
While Cowan and another man escaped in a Jeep Wrangler, authorities said. Police tried to stop the car, but terminated the pursuit due to possible dangers to the public and Cowan’s reckless driving, officers said.
James was left behind that night and was found with $280 in stolen over-the-counter medication, police said. He was arrested that night and charged with shoplifting.
This week, police busted Cowan and charged him with conspiracy to commit shoplifting and eluding and was housed at Morris County Correctional Facility pending a future court appearance.
