A WALMART shopper is growing fed up with the retail giant’s theft prevention tactics they say make checking out far longer than it used to be.
While the shopper said they realize shoplifting has become a large issue, the prevention methods cause too many delays.
As retail theft has skyrocketed in recent years, major retailers like Walmart and Target have increased security efforts to prevent shoplifting and other crimes.
This often involves checking customer’s receipts and bags with their purchases to ensure no unscanned items leave the store.
However, some shoppers are growing frustrated with these efforts as they have increased while the number of manned checkout aisles has decreased.
One Walmart customer recently took to Reddit to express their frustration with the practices.

“Ahem. Walmart. Don’t funnel everyone into a self-checkout line because only one standard register is open then have everyone stopped at the door to check the receipt,” the post reads.
“I get that shoplifting is an issue but damn does it take ten times longer to get out of there now.”
Dozens of other shoppers shared similar annoyance with the situation, with one customer saying they have “lost” their patience.
“I used to be patient and let them go over my receipt but I’ve lost my patience by now. I tell them to hire more cashiers if they don’t trust me and keep walking,” the comment read.

Several others encouraged the original poster to just simply ignore the employees checking the receipts, claiming store policy doesn’t permit them to follow shoppers into the parking lot.
“Yea I ignore the receipt checkers. I’m not a theif so it doesn’t apply to me. I just ignore them, walk around the line and out the door. If you try to physically stop me I’m suing you and I will win lol.”
Many Walmart customers have accused the retail giant of treating them like a “thief” in recent weeks.
At least one woman claimed multiple associates followed her into the parking lot after she already had her receipt checked.
The woman claimed she would never shop at Walmart again because of the experience.
These experiences don’t appear to be limited to shopping at Walmart however, as another shopper claimed they were unfairly treated after checking out at Target.
They claimed that after they used the self-checkout machine, an asset protection employee physically “blocked” them from leaving the store.
“I swear I spend so much money at this damn store and everyone is generally friendly to me, but this was just awful and embarrassing to me,” the Target shopper said in a Reddit post.
“I would like to just let the company know about this because I think it’s really bad to treat a customer this way.”

While customers continue to complain about policies, they do not appear to be disappearing anytime soon.
Walmart did not immediately respond to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
