A Chicago man has been accused of being part of a ring connected to 115 burglaries throughout the suburbs, stealing more than $1 million in merchandise and cash.

The state attorney general announced Tuesday that Darryl D. Williamson, 26, of Chicago, is charged with three counts of burglary, one count of organized retail crime, and one count of attempted burglary. Williamson made his first court appearance Monday, according to DuPage County court records.

A news release said the AG’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force and more than two dozen law enforcement agencies investigated the case.

The ring burglarized businesses, including liquor stores, when the businesses were closed. The burglaries took place in Arlington Heights, Vernon Hills, Addison, Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Oak Lawn, Worth, Barrington, South Barrington, Deerfield, Wauconda, Gilberts, West Dundee, Gurnee, Lake Forest, Carpentersville, Des Plaines, Westchester, Northbrook, North Chicago, Glencoe, Skokie and Morton Grove.

Other defendants are being prosecuted in DuPage, and one is being prosecuted in Lake County. The news release did not name the other defendants.
