A man is in custody after an early morning incident involving a security guard at a hotel on Ellice Avenue.
Winnipeg police say officers arrested 32-year-old Cody Harper around 1:50 a.m. on March 18 in connection with the incident.
About half an hour earlier, police say Harper, who appeared to be intoxicated, entered the hotel lobby in the 1800 block of Ellice Avenue. A security guard told him to leave because he was not a guest.
Police say Harper then pulled out a knife, threatened to kill the 25-year-old security guard, and struck him several times in the upper body. The guard was able to disarm Harper, who then ran from the building.
Officers arrived and found Harper in the hotel parking lot, where he was arrested without further trouble.
Despite the attack, the security guard was not injured.
Harper is facing several charges, including assault with a weapon, assault, making threats, and failing to follow conditions from a previous release order. He remains in custody.
