A HAWK-eyed Walmart shopper has instructed others to make sure the self-checkout they’re using does not have unpaid items scanned.
Trickster shoppers will scan their items at self-checkout, but then leave without actually paying for them, the Walmart shopper warned.
A user on X, formerly known as Twitter, called My Name is TricksR4Kids! (@MyName69868909) said you’ll want to make sure the self-checkout is at zero when you arrive.
This is important so you don’t end up paying for extra stuff.
If the past person’s items are still on the screen when you start ringing items up, you may accidentally pay for them.
“I’ve walked up to self checkout at Walmart and the previous customers items ended up on my bill,” TricksR4Kids! said on X.

“People scan and pretend to pay and walk out.”
The Walmart shopper considered this a dupe when it comes to self-checkouts.
She highlighted how thieves are taking advantage of this.
“Those checkout monitors can be duped,” she said.

“Make sure you start at zero and no items are already rung up when you start ringing up yours up.”
The warning came in response to another shopper’s post on X who ranted about not being a fan of receipt checks.
Some retailers have started implementing receipt checks to ensure transactions were properly done before exiting the stores, especially with an increase in self-checkouts.
They insisted they do not want to participate in the receipt checks after having to do everything themselves while shopping and checking out at Walmart.
“I didn’t choose to participate in that nonsense,” the X user said.
“I had already – filled my cart – emptied my cart – scanned the items – refilled my cart and so I just skipped the exit line and left.”
“You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like they used to be.
“I’m not interested in proving that I did your job for you.”
