A LEGAL expert has shared what he would avoid doing in a store due to how many people he has seen face legal consequences for it.
Lawyer Chris Howard shared a TikTok video on why he would not use self-checkouts.
The attorney was asked what he would never do since he had become a lawyer.
Howard revealed why he always used face-to-face over self-checkouts, in a video uploaded onto The Bull Dog Firm’s TikTok page (@bulldogfirm).
The lawyer said: “If you screw up self-checkout you go to jail for shoplifting.
“If you go through a normal checkout line and they check you out, they get in trouble if they miss an item.”

He shared that the dangers outweighed the benefits of using the controversial system.
Howard said: “Why take that risk?
“I see too many people now who get prosecuted for self-checkout and shoplifting.”
The video’s caption joked about the impact Howard’s message would have on viewers and shoppers.

It said: “How many people aren’t going to use self check out now?”
Viewers seemed to take Howard’s message on board as they shared their thoughts in the comment section.
One person said: “Literally forgot to scan an item last week. Valid point.”
Another person said: “Absolutely. I had to leave a couple stores because they only had self checkout.
“No way I’m going to chance it.”
Other commenters complained about the number of in-person cashiers at their local stores.
One TikToker said: “I’d rather not do self checkout, but sometimes there are no cashiers.”
This warning video went viral and received over 82,000 likes and over 2,000 comments.
