‘It’s petty’ Walmart customer admits after avoiding shopping at retailer – final straw came after 4 in-store hurdles

A SHOPPER revealed why they recently stopped shopping at Walmart and why they had to wait 30 minutes in the store for an item.

Austin raised two controversial in-store measures that he said had affected his decision to not visit the retailer.

The shopper took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their frustrations which included several anti-theft measures.

In the post, Austin (@SaintGremory) complained about four problems he had during his in-store experience.

The shopper criticized the retailer for its receipt checks and for locking items behind clear doors.

“This is petty I know but I’ve avoided shopping at Walmart lately because having to show your receipt and literally everything being locked up has gotten super old,” Austin said.

Some retailers have implemented an anti-theft measure at some of their stores where some goods or rows may be covered in plexiglass.

Customers can see through the cover at the items but would need to call a member of staff over to unlock the doors and retrieve the goods.

Austin shared how this measure made them wait several minutes for one item at a Walmart store.

They added that their bad experience did not end there as they were also ushered to the front of the store by workers.

“Had to wait half an hour to buy a 13 dollar headlight and had to be escorted up front to check out,” Austin said.

The U.S. Sun has previously reported on other customers who have taken to social media to complain about these anti-theft measures.

One customer said they left the store without purchasing the item that they needed as it was behind the security doors.

This shopper, Desssanee (@naturally_dess), was particularly upset at the type of item that was behind the lock and key.

“That one time I went to a Walmart & they had the TOOTHBRUSHES locked up mane when I tell you I was P**SED,” she said.

“Cause toothbrushes??? Oral care??? I gotta get an associate for a TOOTHBRUSH?”
