​Half of WHSmith high street stores could close if it takes on a new owner, warn experts

At least half of WHSmith’s high street stores could close under any new owner, industry experts have said.

If half of its 500 stores close, this would see significant job losses of its 5,000 staff across the high street chain. Offers for the group are expected in the next few weeks with a deal likely to be complete by May.
