Integration and AI are important features for security solutions
The report also explored which features or functionality respondents would most like included in their future security solutions. 72% of CSOs stated that integration across security systems was one of their top three priorities.
Artificial intelligence was the second most common response with 56% of respondents.
At the other end of the scale, frictionless interaction, including haptics and audio control, as well as wireless networking, were the least common responses.
Given the broad impact of cyber security, it also ranked relatively low with only 17% of respondents stating it was a top priority. This could be due to IT leaders having primary responsibility for cyber protection.
Cards remain the primary access control authentication technology
Access control cards were the primary authentication technology used by over 90% of the CSOs surveyed in the research. A hybrid solution was the next most common response, with mobile (BLE/NFC based) and biometrics only used by 1-2% of the respondents.
Despite the relatively low penetration of biometrics, CSOs are interested in the technology. Open feedback for the report included respondents that would like to install biometrics but are concerned with privacy and opt-outs that can limit the usage.
There were also CSOs looking to expand their biometric technology from fingerprint to face recognition where budget and acceptance levels make this possible.
