Giant Food cut the ribbon Friday morning, March 28, on its sparkling new store at South Lake Marketplace in Bowie, drawing a crowd of shoppers, dignitaries, and pizza fans ready to see what’s on the shelves (and in the oven).
Located at 810 Fairmont Drive, the state-of-the-art supermarket comes packed with perks, including a full-service pharmacy, expanded organic and local produce offerings, and — for the pizza purists — the 50th in-store Ledo Pizza location.
Yes, the square pizza with the sweet sauce just landed in a grocery store.
The new store features full-service meat and seafood departments, an expanded gourmet cheese selection, expansive prepared food offerings, freshly made sushi, and a Starbucks.
The first 100 customers also got free Take and Bake Ledo pies — and judging by the crowd, they didn’t last long.
“This store represents a significant investment in Bowie’s future,” officials said.
“This opening reinforces Giant Food’s commitment to serving the community with modern conveniences, expanded offerings, and an enhanced shopping experience.”
