Extreme new anti-theft device drops fog into stores leaving shoppers unable to escape if suspected stealing in progress

STORES have found a new anti-theft device to stop thieves in their tracks, using fog to help them.

Retailers are employing a new fogging device that will make it impossible for shoppers to see if the employees suspect there is a shoplifter on the premises.

The SafetyFog releases a thick fog that instantly fills the space once it’s activated.

While store owners love it because it makes it impossible for thieves to leave, it also stops customers from escaping until the police arrive.

The device is small and discrete, meaning that many people will not see where it is until it’s too late.

While it’s not ideal for the everyday customer, the fog is completely safe for humans, pets, and other store items.

Shoppers can expect to see this new technology employed in many of their favorite liquor stores, pharmacies, ATMs, and shopping centers.

Many retailers are currently looking to increase their anti-theft measures to combat an unprecedented wave of crime.

In the last year, smash-and-grab robbery attempts have gone up 22% this year.

“Retailers are seeing unprecedented levels of theft coupled with rampant crime in their stores, and the situation is only becoming more dire,” said David Johnston, National Retail Federation Vice President for Asset Protection and Retail Operations.

“Far beyond the financial impact of these crimes, the violence and concerns over safety continue to be the priority for all retailers, regardless of size or category.”

In San Jose, California, Mayor Matt Mahan revealed that the city is investing in many of its local stores to upgrade its anti-theft measures.

“This grant allocates millions of dollars to fight retail theft that will put more officers and district attorneys on the case and expand our automatic license plate reader program,” Mahan told NBC affiliate KNTV.

The grant money will be used by the city to form an organized theft detail that will patrol malls and other hot spots.

“Through close collaboration with our law enforcement allies and the DA, we will work to bring down networks and lead to a successful prosecution of those involved,” said Paul Joseph, San Jose Police Department’s assistant chief.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office also revealed that they will appoint a criminal investigator to focus solely on retail theft.
