Emergency crews in Island Park responded to the intersection of Austin Boulevard and Emerson Place at around 12:30 a.m. Monday, June 9, for reports of a pickup truck that drove into a business on the northwest corner.
Arriving officers found a ford F-150 lodged in the glass storefront of Anthony’s Trendz Barbershop, Nassau County Police said. Behind the wheel was Wilson Argueta-Pena, 38, who was unconscious and pinned in the driver’s seat.
Emergency Services officers extricated him from the wreck and rushed him to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, police said.
A preliminary investigation determined Argueta-Pen was intoxicated at the time of the crash, police said. He was expected to be arraigned on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving without license when medically possible.
No one else was injured in the crash, according to police.
