A WALMART customer slammed the company after waiting in a long line for the only open register.
The retailer has continued to receive backlash from shoppers about long lines and wait times.
Walmart announced it would be getting rid of self-checkout at multiple locations.
The decision was made to better the shopping experience.
“The decision was based on several factors, including feedback from associates and customers, shopping patterns, and business needs in this area,” spokesperson Brian Little said, according to NBC affiliate KSDK.
“We believe the change will improve the in-store shopping experience and give our associates the chance to provide more personalized and efficient service.”

However, this change has backfired with many customers.
“Your Navarre Supercenter has the WORST service!” a shopper wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I was 3rd of 5 in line at the only register open! I then called the store 5 times, trying to reach the manager. Not even one of these calls was answered!
“Do I have to just stop going to Walmart?”

The retailer responded to the frustrated customer and asked them to send them a message.
“That definitely shouldn’t be the case, Sharon! We’d like to investigate this for you,” Walmart Help wrote back to the customer.
MORE CHANGES
The retailer has made even more changes to self-checkout.
Walmart now allows store managers to close select self-checkout registers for everyone except those with Walmart + memberships or Spark delivery drivers.
The membership costs $12.95 a month, or $98 a year, leaving many unhappy customers.
“If I have to pay to buy a product at any store I will never shop at that store chain ever again,” wrote a customer on X.
Recent Walmart issues and complaints

- Self-checkout
- Receipt check
- Locked shelves
- Not being able to pay using Apple Pay
- Badly wrapped packages that are damaged during shipping

“Especially since Walmart will gladly limit the amount of cashiers to force people to buy subscriptions.”
Another shopper raged about the charge and “doing someone else’s job.”
“First, they made me do someone else’s job by implementing self-checkout,” they said
“Now they want me to pay them to do someone else’s job. I hate Walmart.”
“If taking jobs away from people by replacing them with computers/robots wasn’t bad enough, they’re now charging already paying customers to pay to use self-checkouts?” asked another.
