At 5:16 p.m., the suspects entered a barbershop on the 900 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. said. Patrons ran to the back, except for the victim, who was still in the barber’s chair, Miranda said. The suspect struck the victim with a firearm and snatched his Crossbody bag containing $700, Miranda said. He fled with the other suspect and both men were captured on surveillance video heading south on Frelinghuysen Avenue, Miranda said.
The armed man is described as a Black man wearing a green camouflage jacket and the second suspect is a Black man, was wearing a black jacket, black pants, and black shoes, Miranda said.
