5 Central Florida restaurants shut down over health violations. Here’s why

ORLANDO, Fla. – Last week, five more restaurants in Central Florida were forced to shut down after a visit from a health inspector, according to the Florida DBPR.

The health inspection reports reveal that these eateries had violations like issues with roaches, rodents, and improper handling of food items.

While the health inspections initially caused these businesses to close down, they all managed to reopen within the week.

Below is the full list of Central Florida restaurants closed between June 9 and June 16.


COCOA BEACH

  • Mimmo’s Pizza & Ristorante of Cocoa Beach — 3 N. Atlantic Ave.
    • 6/11: Over 200 rodent droppings found inside, rodent “rub marks” found along walls and ceiling, pizza slices held out for an indeterminate amount of time, and ammonium sanitizer not at proper strength for ware-washing
    • 6/12: Met inspection standards

HAINES CITY

  • Taco Loco — 1199 Powerline Road
    • 6/11: Employee found washing her hands without soap, and shredded cheese kept stored at 46 degrees (over the 41-degree requirement)
    • 6/12: Met inspection standards

LAKE MARY

  • La Antioquena Restaurant — 3861 Lake Emma Road
    • 6/12: Over 10 live roaches found inside, fish not found in “wholesome, sound condition,” and salsa kept at improper temperature (over the 41-degree requirement)
    • 6/13: Met inspection standards

ORLANDO

  • El Palacio Buffet — 7403 S. Orange Blossom Trail
    • 6/9: Raw beef improperly stored over crab cakes, four live roaches found under prep tables, and milk left out of the cooler for under four hours
    • 6/10: Met inspection standards
  • Pang’s BBQ — 5132 W. Colonial Drive
    • 6/11: Hot dog bun and pork bun held at improper temperatures, meat at the front counter held without a time mark for under four hours, and wastewater backed up through the floor drains
    • 6/12: Met inspection standards
