ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Five people face charges in the theft and handling of rare sneakers that were allegedly stolen during Hurricane Milton from an Orange County warehouse rented by Marcus Jordan, the son of Michael Jordan, according to the sheriff’s office.
The burglary occurred early Oct. 10, 2024, several hours after Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said on social media.
Three males wearing masks and gloves could be seen on surveillance video rummaging through boxes and shelves in the warehouse, ultimately stealing what detectives described as 300 to 400 pairs of sneakers worth at least $20,000, according to affidavits for the suspects’ arrest warrants.
The thieves loaded the sneakers into a Mercedes-Benz sprinter van that Jordan also owned, stealing that as well, Detective John Mendez said in a video statement.
“I got a really good tip that some of these stolen sneakers — one of them is a very rare pair, Trophy Room ‘Home’ edition — was being sold in a sneaker store in downtown Orlando, so I followed up on that tip and was able to move forward from there,” Mendez said.

After identifying the first two suspects, the detective recalled seeing one of them allegedly wearing a pair of the stolen sneakers during surveillance, what he said enabled him to obtain a search warrant for his apartment.
“I did get confessions, which that assisted in follow-up investigations and helped lead to the arrest of the other suspects. The two most serious charges that they’re facing right now is the burglary to a structure during a state of emergency and then the grand theft during a state of emergency as well, that’s going to be an enhancement. They’re also going to be facing grand theft of a motor vehicle with a mask, criminal mischief over $1,000, dealing in stolen property and unlawful use of a communication device,” Mendez said.
The suspects were identified as Kahmari Jones-Shipley, Channing Rattcliffe. Scott Wimbley Jr, Timothy Mitchell Jr and Allen Wimbley, according to the post.

Records show varying charges for the five, such as how Allen Wimbley faces a charge of dealing in stolen property while Scott Wimbley Jr and Kahmari Jones-Shipley are accused of grand theft at or above $20,000, among the other charges they face.
