A horrifying attempted car theft with at least two masked gunmen at a Wolfchase-area restaurant occurred in broad daylight around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Cell phone video obtained by WREG shows the commotion inside the restaurant off Stage Road and Kate Hyde Road as patrons take cover.
Bartlett Police said preliminary information indicates the victim caught a group of people trying to steal their vehicle out of the parking lot.
When the victim and other witnesses tried to intervene, the suspects brandished a gun and threatened multiple people before leaving in a white Nissan Maxima with a California license plate.
No shots were fired.
The owner says that they locked the doors and called the cops and when Bartlett Police showed up, the men took off. While no one got hurt, the owner says things could have been worse. Driver jumps curb, crashes into car during chase: THP
“In one of the videos, it seemed like they were trying to pull the trigger, so we don’t know if there was anything in there or what was going on,” the restaurant owner stated.
Back in May, the owner says there was another attempted car theft.
She wants more police presence in the area going forward.

“It’s sad, it’s very sad because people are going there to make a living and people are coming there to have a meal out and have nice evening and we have to worry about our cars being stolen or broken into while we’re trying to make money to support our families,” the owner said. “But also people are sitting there trying to have a nice evening having to witness this type of crime and it’s sad.”
Bartlett Police asked anyone with information to call their Investigative Services Division at
901-385-5565.
