With Amazon Prime Day coming soon, major retailers are planning their own sales events.
WASHINGTON — With the dates for Prime Day officially set, a number of major retailers are revealing their own plans to compete with Amazon’s annual sale.
Walmart and Target are both hosting sales events overlapping with Amazon Prime Day.
Walmart announced Monday that its “Walmart Deals” event will return with six days of savings online and in stores. It kicks off online at midnight Eastern on Tuesday, July 8 and runs through Sunday, July 13. Walmart+ members will have early access to deals beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern on Monday, July 7.
Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer, said it plans to offer thousands of deals across electronics, home, back-to-school and more including major brands like Samsung, Vizio and Dyson.
Target has announced the return of Target Circle Week starting July 6, with early access on July 5 for its Circle 360 members, through July 12.
The Minnesota-based company said Monday it will be maintaining its 2024 prices on key back-to-school items, including a list of 20 must-have supplies that add up to less than $20 total and it’s top-selling $5 backpacks.
Verified college students can also get a one-time 20% off discount with Target Circle starting June 29 and verified teachers receive a one-time 20% off discount from July 20-Aug. 3.
When is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day 2025 will kick off early in the morning on Tuesday, July 8 and run through July 11, 2025. For the first time in the event’s 11-year history, the popular discount event will be four days long.
The company doesn’t disclose how much revenue it pulls in from its annual discount sale, but previously said 2024’s event was its biggest ever.
