A CUSTOMER has taken a major stance against Walmart’s receipt policy as more and more shoppers voice their disdain for the practice.
The shopper revealed that not only do they refuse to use the retailer’s self-checkout, but they also boldly reject Walmart’s receipt policy.
“I refuse to check myself out! If they can’t provide a cashier I’m shopping elsewhere. and don’t ask for my receipt when I leave,” the customer wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“You checked me once. You have scanners that know who is stealing. Don’t waste my time & insult me.”
Receipt checks have been a controversial topic amongst shoppers. Many have taken to social media to voice their disdain for the policy.
“Yea I think I’m done shopping at @Walmart for groceries. I got a basket full of stuff only to get to the front and there are no cashiers,” one disgruntled shopper wrote.

“So I was forced to self-checkout. Then I get to the door and you question my integrity by asking to see my receipt.@kroger would never!”
Another customer, Al Pitchman (@al_pitchman), let his TikTok followers know that they can’t get in trouble for refusing to show their receipt.
“Don’t be fooled. When you spend your hard-earned dollars at any Walmart, you are NOT required by law, to show your receipt on the way out. #knowyourrights,” he captioned the video.
He explained that he normally lets the employee know that he is not going to comply before walking out.

“I tell them that I know they are just doing their job and that I have nothing personal against them,” he explained in the clip.
“Then, I kindly let the employee know that I do not agree with the policy, I tell them to have a nice day, and I walk out the door.”
However, one Walmart worker had taken to Reddit to explain certain misconceptions about the policy.
While some might think Walmart employees are checking receipts to make sure you’re not stealing, it’s also to check the employee’s mistakes.
“No one cares if you’re white, brown, black, pink, polka dotted, or a one eyed one horned flying purple people eater, we have to see your receipt to verify neither you or the cashier missed something in your cart,” he wrote.
He explained how things like water are often a big loss for the company because cashiers might not see that they were placed under the cart.
The employee continued, saying that he made the post to hopefully help customers who felt insulted by the policy.
“We’re in danger of being hurt and get cussed at and yelled at and threatened daily,” he writes. “It costs nothing to be nice.”
“I love you all, and I am not mad. I just believe we’re all capable of better.”
