Police determined that the juvenile was walking to his car to go to work when he saw Strickland inside another vehicle stealing things. The juvenile confronted Strickland, and there was a physical altercation between the two. Strickland fired multiple rounds from a stolen firearm that he already had in his possession, police said

The juvenile was brought to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment; his identity has not been released.

Officers, including a K-9 unit, canvassed the area and found multiple pieces of evidence, including the stolen gun and a duffle bag with multiple stolen items in it. Police reviewed surveillance footage from multiple locations to develop a physical description of the suspect and to figure out the direction that he fled, according to authorities.

Strickland was arrested within hours of the shooting. He allegedly committed the crimes while out on bail.

Police are still describing the investigation as “very active” and say that additional charges or arrests are likely. Any members of the public with information that could help the investigation are being asked to call Det. Sgt. Trevor Dickerman at 603-542-7010 or the Claremont Police anonymous tip line at 603-542-7026.
